Post-doc contract zebrafish

Università di Pisa

Dear colleagues,

I am looking for a highly motivated candidate to join my research Unit at the Department of Biology, University of Pisa.

We are interested in studying the PRR12 gene, whose haploinsufficiency has recently emerged as the cause of a syndrome associated with developmental delay, intellectual disability and eye abnormalities.

To gain insights into the pathogenetic mechanisms of this syndrome, we will model PRR12-haploinsufficiency in zebrafish. To this aim, we will characterize the morphological, molecular and behavioral phenotypes of prr12 mutants already available at the European Zebrafish Resource Center. New hypothesis-driven research on the etiopathological processes affecting DNA methylation will be also carried out.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Biology or Biotechnology (although also candidates with MSc in Biology or Biotechnology will be considered) and previous lab experience in molecular biology and possibly also in the zebrafish model. The position is full-time for 2 years and salary will be commensurate to the experience and seniority of the candidate. The position is immediately available and is funded by a 2-year grant by Cariplo-Telethon.

To apply, please send a CV to Massimiliano Andreazzoli (massimiliano.andreazzoli@unipi.it). Contact details of at least one referee would be much appreciated. Selected candidates will be directly contacted for interviews until the position is filled.
